Queen Of Retreats

queen of retreats“HHH Health Retreats run ad hoc fitness weeks at a luxury hotel on Kefalonia in Greece, and this hardcore week runs once or twice a year.

You’ll need a good base level of fitness to keep up on a challenging week which includes some strenuous scenic bike rides, hill sprints, ten-mile hikes and a mini-triathlon.

You can also expect sea kayaking, water polo, Pilates and personal training along with heart-pumping old school circuits. It’s not all blood sweat and tears though.

You’ll be-based out of the heavenly Emelisse Hotel, a chic five star boutique hotel with mind-blowing ocean views and treated to a relaxing day out in the hotel’s luxury speedboat.

The whole trip is exceptionally well organised with very high standards in everything from the trainers to the food.”

ELLE

elle“By the end of the week, I feel like a new woman. I am sleeping like a baby, have made new friends and have shaved several centimetres off my thighs and waist. The final days weigh-ins reveal I even lost 5lb, which is extraordinary because I haven’t felt hungry once.”

Wood & Luxe

wood and luxe“The team have been running 3 years of successful retreats in Greece and look to expand to other countries over the London winter (thank gosh!).

Guests return year on year for their week of clean eating, copious amounts of fitness activities and all round good vibes.

Everyone leaves refreshed, lighter, slimmer and I swear the circles under my eyes disappeared. I can’t recommend the retreat highly enough.

If you’re looking to tone up, shed a few kilos or a dress size, HHH Health Retreats are the way to go. You will be in the total care of a very experienced team and your schedule can be as busy or as chilled out as you want.

I lost 2 cms on my chest, bum & hips so I left a happy camper. Not to mention my radiating skin and smile ear to ear. And the amazing detox cuisine. Like seriously, the best food I have ever eaten. AND it was all good for you.

Ah-mazing! I really wanted to bring Chef Al home to London with me. Wouldn’t that be the dream!”

We loved all the massages we received, but found the Esalen bodywork superlative. It’s heaps of fun too – you will laugh your head off while your fat weeps in anguish. The next runs 6-13 June. Tennis holidays and Wellness retreats will start this year too.”

Conde Nast Traveler

conde nast traveler“Set up by London-based South African personal trainer Henlu van der Westhuizen and Australian chef Alan Wichert, these week-long breaks offer an impressive range of activities and a schedule that can be as busy as you want.

The focus is on changing your body composition (less excess fat, more muscle) rather than weight loss. Food is low-GI, dairy-, wheat-, salt- and sugar-free.

Visiting specialists include charming Australian nutritionist and naturopath Max Tomlinson; Paul Hopkins, senior coach at Campden Hill Lawn Tennis Club in London’s Notting Hill; and wellness expert Allie Walker, who offers sessions in Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage on a fabulous private outdoor terrace.

There’s plenty of laughter in the mix, too: a group quiz in the evening by a roaring fire; a (healthy) pizza night; a boat trip to Ithaca on Tsimaras’s swish boat. What makes this recipe for fitness so great, though, is the team’s good humour. You’ll want to bottle up their witticisms and take them home.”
